I’m posting word about Vermont’s upcoming one-day sales tax holiday now so you have time to plan for this Saturday, March 6th, when the event occurs.
All Vermont businesses and out-of-state retailers registered to collect sales and use taxes in Vermont must participate in the one-day event, which exempts from sales tax and local option sales tax all items of tangible personal property (i) costing $2,000 or less, (ii) purchased for personal use.
Exemptions to the exemptions abound, including no tax holiday for digital downloads, so check here for a detailed Q&A on all of the rules, stipulations, and other details about this sales tax holiday and here for Vermont’s Department of Taxes, Agency of Administration’s general announcement of the holiday.
Vendors: See here for general guidelines for you and your customers, and see here for your application for reimbursement, which is due by May 6, 2010.
